HOME-MADE EXFOLIATING SCRUB

There are thousands of exfoliating products on shelves in the cosmetic aisles these days. But a lot of times, products which look appealing are either expensive or contain tons of chemicals that can irritate the skin. So, whats the alternative? Make your own! Exfoliating is an important step for skincare that is often forgotten about. Here is a simple DIY technique for making your own exfoliating scrub, using just three simple ingredients!

Ingredients

1 tbsp of honey
2 tbsp of granulated sugar
½ fresh lemon

Method

Simply just mix the honey, granulated sugar and lemon juice together until a thick gooey paste is formed. You can adjust the level of abrasiveness of the exfoliating mask according to the amount of sugar that is mixed. For harder scrubbing, increase its tbsp. Also, make sure the consistency isn't very liquidy as this will make the application quite messy and difficult.

Leave it on for approximately 10-15 minutes and rinse off with cold water. Avoid applying the mask onto broken skin as the lemon may cause a stinging sensation. Another disclaimer-I would not recommend using lemon for those with very sensitive skin.

Facts

Honey is known to be a great antibacterial formula that soothes and heals blemished/acne skin. Sugar is super important too as it helps to exfoliate and buff away dead skin cells and evens out the skin tone. Lastly, lemon acts as a toner that brightens dull skin and minimizes the pores.

And that is literally it! This mask is a 3 in 1 because it can be used as a body, face and lip scrub! If you have tried this mask before, do let me know your experience in the comments below.
